The California State Alliance of YMCAs actively advocates on state legislative, budgetary and regulatory matters relevant to YMCA programs and operations and on behalf of the communities we strengthen through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. For more than 30 years, California YMCAs have had an engaged voice in shaping public policy with a dedicated presence in Sacramento.
Our policy advocacy positions and activities are determined by our Public Policy Committee led by our governing Board of Directors. Our executive director, Kris Lev-Twombly, is a registered California lobbyist and serves as the primary advocate for our Alliance. We engage our member CEOs in shaping and advancing our advocacy agenda through briefings, surveys and direct action.
For an overview of our policy priorities, please review our Public Policy Framework (updated annually).
