The California State Alliance of YMCAs welcomes its 2016 Board of Directors, elected by member vote at our Fall 2015 Alliance meeting in Long Beach California. The new Board steps in after a voluntary two-year term served by the previous Board to carry the Alliance through its transition to being staffed and incorporated as a 501c4 tax exempt organization.
Jay Lowden, CEO of the YMCA of Superior California, takes the helm as Board Chair, replacing our Immediate Past Chair, JC Holt. As Chair, Jay will work with the Board and staff of the Alliance to set the vision and tone for our work for 2016. As CEO of the YMCA of Superior California, Jay leads an association serving over 34,000 Californians of all ages in programs focused on youth development, healthy living and socially responsibility. Prior to his current position he served as Chief Development Officer for the YMCA of the Pikes Peak Region, Director of Financial Development for the Berkeley-Albany YMCA, Vice President with Netzel Associates Fund Raising Counsel, and Chief Operating Officer for the Santa Clara County Council, Boy Scouts of America. Currently Jay serves on the YMCA National Talent and Knowledge Management Advisory Board and has been a Certified Fundraising Executive since 2008.
JC Holt, CEO for the YMCA of Burbank, continues his board service for a third year as Immediate Past Chair, ensuring continuity and a seamless transition. JC served an extended two-year term as Chair, seeing the Alliance through its transition to become an incorporated 501(c)4 organization with its first-ever staff executive.
Scott Eastman, CEO for the Siskiyou Family YMCA, steps in as Board Secretary, replacing Tyler Wright, CEO of the YMCA of the Foothills. As Secretary, Scott is charged with ensuring smooth Board operations and consistent, transparent communication of governance matters to Alliance members.
Coming in as Board Treasurer is Rich Good, CEO of YMCA of Anaheim, replacing Alan Hostrup, CEO of the YMCA of Metropolitan Los Angeles. As Treasurer, Rich chairs the Finance Committee and works with the executive director, Board, and Finance Committee to ensure the fiscal health of the Alliance.
Chuck Collins, CEO for the YMCA of San Francisco, assumes leadership as Public Policy Chair, replacing Barb McGaughey who has just become California's new Y-USA Resource Director. As Public Policy Chair, Chuck leads the Public Policy Committee, charged with reviewing legislation, engaging the Alliance in advocacy activities and making decisions regarding Alliance-wide advocacy.
Robert Wilkins, CEO for the YMCA of the East Bay, continues his Board service for a third year as a Member at large.
Darwin Barnett, CEO for the YMCA of the East Valley, joins the Board as a Member at Large.
