social responsibility

We know that when we work together, we move individuals, families and communities forward. Since 1844, the Y has responded to society’s most pressing needs by developing innovative, community-based solutions and uniting people from all walks of life to participate in and work for positive social change. Whether providing job training to a newly single parent, advocating for affordable, healthy food options for underserved communities, or helping newcomers transition well into their new neighborhoods, the Y is committed to giving all people the tools and support to live healthy, connected and secure lives.

Here in California, Y's across the state engage Californians to shape and strengthen their own communities. Over 30,000 Californians volunteer at the Y every year. California's Y's raise over $52 million in charitable giving each year to strengthen communities through healthy living, youth development and social responsibility. Each year our Y's provide more than $23 million in financial assistance to ensure that everyone can participate and benefit.

Many of California's Y's offer the signature Togetherhood program. Togetherhood invites Y members to activate their social responsibility by participating in the Y’s cause to strengthen community. Togetherhood provides Y members with fun, convenient and rewarding ways to give back and support their neighbors. Watch the video below to learn more about Togetherhood:
