We have more than 130 years of experience in providing a safe, thriving environment for young people to build self-esteem, develop interpersonal skills, discover the creativity and health benefits of the outdoors, and make lasting friendships and memories.

Since the late 1860’s, Ys in California have been helping people develop skills and emotional well-being through education and training, creating local jobs, encouraging volunteerism, pursuing diversity and building healthier communities through collaborations.

The programs of California's Y's reflect the needs of the communities they strengthen. No two Y associations-- or even branches-- in California will be identical, because every community is different. We're proud of our shared tradition of being shaped by our communities. While every Y is unique, we are bound by the same promise to build healthy mind, body and spirit for all.
