2022 Advocacy Priorities
Children ages 5-11 are now eligible for the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine
All children ages 5 and up now eligible for Pfizer BioNTech COVID-19 vaccines. These vaccines offer the strongest protection for your child against COVID-19 and will help keep your family and community safer at home and at school.
Vaccinating your children is incredibly important as it limits disruptions to their learning. Fully vaccinated students may remain in school and avoid interruptions to in-person education, even if they are exposed to someone with COVID-19, so long as they remain without symptoms.
Call your child’s doctor or visit MyTurn.ca.gov to schedule an appointment or find a walk-in clinic.
California YMCA Youth and Family Health Opportunity Program
The California State Alliance works closely with local YMCAs to strengthen communities. Through our Youth and Family Health Opportunity Program, the Alliance equitably funds local YMCAs to subsidize free access to YMCA health-promoting programs and services for low-income youth and their families, including:
- youth sports
- wellness memberships
- day and resident camps
- aquatics/drowning prevention
- anything that generally helps the most at-risk kids and families achieve and maintain healthy body, mind and spirit
We welcome partnerships with philanthropic institutions and state/federal agencies to assist families throughout California. To find out how to support this program, please contact Kris Lev-Twombly, CEO + President of the California State Alliance of YMCAs, at kris@ymcasofca.org.
